Igatpuri - Paradise tucked into Sahyadris
Serving as a fond weekend getaway, residents of Pune and Mumbai often set out on mini vacations choosing one of the many places to visit in Igatpuri - a hill station with pleasant day weather and foggy nights.
Surrounded by mountains from all sides, this little town is an easy escape from the city chaos and is a great spot for anybody looking to spend time in the lap of nature. What makes Igatpuri more fun is that it has a number of other hamlets located in the nearby vicinity that all make for fun picnic spots.
And as there are many resorts taking care of accommodation needs, family and friends can plan an overnight trip for some fun, relaxing time here. Moreover, the roads to Igatpuri and to other places around it are decently maintained and well connected which makes it a great road-trip destination.
About 144 kms from Mumbai, Igatpuri transports you to all-together a different world. Igatpuri is a great place to go if you like to do nothing but just trekking. There is nothing else to do, just greenery and hilly terrain, and some lakes. A world that sits right in the lap of mother nature, a world having almost zero civilization, a world which u see in fairy tales perhaps!
The journey took about 3.5 hours on the Mumbai-Nasik highway(NH-3), which by the way without doubt the most beautiful stretch of road I have ever seen in India. Sitting on the window frame of the car, sticking my head out and enjoying the greenery all around just can’t be described in words!
